We do a variety of activities as a group, we attend pride together, we attend workshops and presentations together, and there is also a Quiz at the bar where we meet, which helps keep us sharp, and its great fun.

On the other hand, there is also plenty of time to have a one-to-one session with Christene, who will help you, and guide your through any problem areas that you may be facing.

Where To Find Us ?

We meet EVERY Thursday, 6:30pm to 9:30pm, without fail, and there will always be a warm and friendly, welcome for you.

Meeting Times

Until further notice, TransWakefield will meet, every Thursday, at

Hogarths, 62-63, Westgate, Wakefield, WF1 1BW

This is a safe, and secure, location, but it could be a little overwhelming for anyone not used to meeting in a public space. Please do not be put off by this, this is a very welcoming meeting place that is very supportive of the LGBT+ community.

TransWakefield members meet here outside of TransWakefield.

Meet Our Chairperson

Christene started to transition at the age of 58 and joined TransWakefield as a member in order to find resources and advice about the process. She learned a lot about the "journey" of transitioning but not as much about practical things like how to dress and use makeup.

She gained skills and became more comfortable with herself as her journey progressed. She worked with the previous chairperson of TransWakefield and helped to run meetings and support sessions, eventually taking over as chairperson herself.

She wanted to create a safe and friendly environment where transgender people could socialize with the public and learn how to navigate the wider world.

As a result of her efforts, TransWakefield has become a thriving and valuable resource for the transgender community.

Make A Donation

As a group that supports and advocates for the transgender and non-binary community, we rely on the generosity of our visitors, allies, and our friends, to keep our services running. Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for individuals who may not have a voice elsewhere, and your donations help make that possible.

We understand that times are tough for many of us, but even a small donation can make a massive difference in helping to keep our website up and running and producing leaflets and posters. Every little bit helps, and your contributions go towards supporting the transgender and non-binary community and our resources.

If you believe in our mission and the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space for transgender and non-binary people, we ask that you consider making a small donation today. Your support is greatly appreciated and it will help us continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most.

Thank you for your support and for being a part of our community.
