2020 saw us and most groups having to postpone face to face groups, this was a challenge for us and the majority of our community. Not only did it stop us from supporting people but it also stopped our fundraising efforts. But, we are strong, and we are resilient, and we have survived. We started 2021 with TransWakefield running a new, regular online group (contact us if you’d like to join), on a different day for now but with as many laughs as ever.
We know that 2020 was a tough year for our community and we are delighted to still be here to support those who need us. Throughout all of the chaos of the last year we have been working away in the background and we are happy to have strengthened our relationships with Leeds Gender Clinic through their outreach workers, but we have also developed new contacts and partnerships, and we are now supporting efforts in Lancashire to establish new groups, training sessions, and support workers.
As 2021 moves on we will continue to offer as much support as we are able, and we will continue to grow and develop. As soon as we can we will have our regular peer support, and clothes swaps, back on the calendar.
We wish you a joyous new year, we hope that this year is better for you and our community, and we look forward to continuing our work.
Stay Safe, Stay Well.
Sophie, Chairperson of TransWakefield
